The Garden Shed — Annapolis Valley
Built by the community, for the community — freeze-dried food, employment training, and food security all under one roof.
Annapolis Valley's first community-integrated freeze-dry operation — where food, training, and people come together.

Freeze-drying preserves food by freezing it, then removing moisture in a vacuum — locking in up to 97% of the original nutritional value, flavour, and colour. No preservatives. No additives. Just pure food with a shelf life of up to 25 years.
From freeze-dried fruits and vegetables, herbs to pet products — every product is made locally in the Annapolis Valley. Every purchase supports our community mission.

We partner with Annapolis Valley farmers to rescue surplus and imperfect produce — freeze-drying it and making it available to food-insecure individuals and families. Recipients can receive food as a gift, through a minimal work exchange, or at a fraction of the cost.
"Reducing food waste while reducing food insecurity in our community."
The heart of The Garden Shed. We provide hands-on work experience through our freeze-dry operations, plus classroom courses — helping individuals move to meaningful employment and independence.
"There is nothing more prosperous than a life that has changed." — Charles Mulli

Volunteers are the heartbeat of this program. Individuals, small groups, garden clubs, and community organizations are all welcome.
